A man with too much ambition,
cannot sleep in peace!!
Man is essentially an ambitious and a competitive being. There has been no substantial change in man’s nature during the course of his evolution. He is still barbarian at heart, ready to kill another for his own survival or simply to prove his supremacy over the other, possibly a weaker person. Man may boast of all of his technological advancements that have been made in the past centuries as a result of his ingenuity, yet the fact remains that they have not made man wiser and more judicious rather his lust for power has become as strong it was ever before. Driven by an unbridled ambition, he continues with his endeavor, unmindful, of the havoc he may cause in the lives of others. It is no longer a struggle for survival, rather it is just an indulgence of his whims and fancies. His acquisitiveness, pride, ambition and selfishness drive him on in his pursuit of personal gains.
History remarks Ambition burns Peace!
History has remarked testimony to the very fact that wars were waged by kings and emperors with just to justify their ambitions. Alexander the great, was young and ambitious and came all the way from Greece to India. He aspired to rule over the entire world. Ashoka was also an ambitious ruler and waged wars to annex new lands. On one of his expedition he saw the trial of death and destruction of the enemy camp in the war that he had won. He was so much moved by that bloodshed that he decided to forsake war and work for the good of the humanity he realized that to fulfill his ambitions, he had unknowingly sacrificed the lives of many innocent people. In modern times, the Hitler would be remembered as the most ambitious man on earth. He believed in the superiority of Aryan race and wanted to exterminate the Jews from the face of earth. The gas chambers, the torture cells and mass graveyard exhumed after the end of Second World War are grim reminders of German holocaust.

Ambition always spell doom for the man who nurtures it and also leaves behind a trial of death and destruction.
All religions preach universal love and peace. But, these remain Utopian ideas, which are beyond the realm of anybody’s understanding. Gautam Buddha felt that man should cast off all desires and follow the path of righteousness to achieve perfect happiness. Great philosophers and prophets have preached the message of love and renunciation and a control over one’s passion to attain salvation. The past 20th century saw Mahatma Gandhi pursued the freedom struggle on the ideals of love, tolerance and non-violence. On the eve of independence, however, he was a disillusioned man because the country was partitioned, which led to the outbreak of communal violence. His efforts of obtaining freedom through peaceful means were shattered because of the lofty ambitions of some leaders to grab power. The partition led to a carnage of both sides which resulted in a huge loss of life and property.
International peace remains a cherished dream. Global terrorism is sponsored by a few countries to further their ambitions. With a view to contain communism and the influence of Russia on other countries worldwide. The diplomacy of United nations have played a very crucial role in it.
